Watergate [#79]

Regular price $10.00 $0.00

It’s difficult to hear the word “Watergate” and not think about scandal. On August 9, 1974, facing possible impeachment by Congress, Richard Nixon became the only U.S. President ever to resign.

But the six-building Watergate complex is much more than that dark reference in history. It is indeed a truly remarkable architectural gem. Its design details, stylish massing, and modernist gardens have a striking presence on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The place has even been featured in The Simpsons!

In the image, a young woman watches a goose in the pouring rain. This postcard is part of the series 'Postcards from Washington DC' that aims to represent the contrasting life in the capital.
